Quotations about ruin | |
The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved. If ever the time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest Seats in Government, our Country will stand in need of its experienced Patriots to prevent its Ruin. It is the way of the superior man to prefer the concealment of his virtue, while it daily becomes more illustrious, and it is the way of the mean man to seek notoriety, while he daily goes more and more to ruin. |
