Bill Gates – The economy of the future

Share this quote:
Bill GatesI’ve heard some people describe the economy of the future as ‘post-corporatist and post-capitalist’–one in which large corporations crumble and all innovation happens from the bottom up. What nonsense. People who say things like that never have a convincing explanation for who will make drugs or low-cost carbon-free energy. Catalytic philanthropy doesn’t replace businesses. It helps more of their innovations benefit the poor.

Douglas MacArthur – Our country is now geared to an arms economy

Share this quote:
Douglas MacArthurIt is part of the general pattern of misguided policy that our country is now geared to an arms economy which was bred in an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and nurtured upon an incessant propaganda of fear. While such an economy may produce a sense of seeming prosperity for the moment, it rests on an illusionary foundation of complete unreliability and renders among our political leaders almost a greater fear of peace than is their fear of war.

Milton Friedman – Environmentalism and the right amount of pollution

Share this quote:
Milton FriedmanEven the most ardent environmentalist doesn’t really want to stop pollution. If he thinks about it, and doesn’t just talk about it, he wants to have the right amount of pollution. We can’treally afford to eliminate it – not without abandoning all the benefits of technology that we not only enjoy but on which we depend.

Milton Friedman   (1912-2006)
